On Friday, June 2nd, 2000 I invited a
huge group of musicians to Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, GA
to help celebrate the release of “The Difference.” What ensued was possibly the most
exciting, powerful show I’ve ever had the opportunity to play. Joining me on stage were Kevin Leahy,
Brandon Bush, Don McCollister, Stephanie Dorfman,
Len Rosen, Lara Aronoff, Ken Greene and many more. We recorded the entire show directly
from the board onto Digital Audio Tape (DAT), and selections from the
show are now available in MP3 format.
In addition to my own songs, we threw in a bunch of our favorite
covers. To hear the original
songs, please visit the MP3.com page.
I receive royalties for each download, so tell a friend! To hear the cover songs, please click
the title below. Also, please
check out the original versions and support the writers. As always, thanks for your
support. I couldn’t do it without
you!

The Cover Songs

Going
Back to Georgia
With Lara. This song was written as a duet by Nanci Griffith and Adam Duritz
and appears on Nanci’s Flyer
album. Kind of a reminder of
home. It’s kind of a reminder of

Jockey
Full of Bourbon
With Don,
Ken, Len, Stephanie, Kevin and Brandon.
This is the one cover off of “The Difference.” An amazing song by Tom Waits from the
Rain Dogs album. We went
a little country, and Brandon, Ken and Len simply blew us all away on
this one.

Youngstown
With
Stephanie, Kristian, Brandon, Ken, Kevin and Don. This is my all-time favorite
Springsteen song. I was lucky
enough to see him twice with the band last year, and the electric
version knocked me over. Hail to
the king. Steph
and Kristian’s vocals totally brought this
one together. Finally, this
one’s for the Currans.

Love
at the Five and Dime
With
Stephanie. Well, after years of
searching, Steph and I finally found a song
we can both sing lead on. Another
by Nanci Griffith, this song is simply
beautiful. My sister is a
goddess, enough said. Sit back,
pop on the headphones, and be amazed.

Closing
Medley
To Close the
show, I merged a few of my favorite songs. This begins with the Irish Blessing,
which is the dedication on the inside cover of “The Difference.” This one’s for you, Gramma. Then
I move into “True Companion” by Marc Cohn. This is possibly the best love song
ever written, it’s for you Lara, and it’s as close as I can come to a
wedding present for my good friends David and Abby. Finally, it ends with Springsteen’s
“My Hometown” because, after all, Atlanta
will always be it. This is a
long song and a huge download, so be
prepared. Thanks again.
